About Melanie

Summers spent at the family cabin deep in the woods of New Hampshire helped me develop a strong bond with the natural world at an early age. My sister and I loved playing for endless hours in the forest, observing birds, animals, and insects, climbing trees and getting dirty. My love and compassion for animals and the environment led to becoming a vegetarian in my teens and eventually fully vegan. Over time, I eliminated all chemicals and additives from the products I use in my daily life, because I know in my heart they are unnecessary and harmful to the natural world I love. I started Bright Earth because of a desire to help create a healthier environment for my clients and our community.

I live in Salem with my partner and two lovable elderly kitties, June and Mr. Tough, who provide me with plenty of vacuuming opportunities, especially during shedding season. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking with local seasonal ingredients, playing in the ocean, painting and pottery. I love hiking, camping, foraging for wild food, and tending to my backyard herb and flower garden. On Thursdays in the summer, you can find me working at the Salem Farm Direct Co-op, helping members collect their food shares.
